Small Business Product Review in a parallel economy

Salado Olive Oil Company Table of Contents

By now, some of you may know I create videos to highlight and give my support to the small business community. Another thing I tend to do is spend a decent amount of time in one of my favorite chat groups on Locals.com. One day I thought it would be fun to ask for some feedback from anyone wanting to play and asked for input on which cities they would like me to search for small businesses to highlight in a video. Well, enough people decided to play, and it turned into not just one video, but four.

In my video titled, “Small Business Texas Style!”, my search was focused on Salado, Texas which turned out to be a great destination. In Salado, I found a pretty cool place that gives the look and feel of the “Old West” called the Salado Olive Oil Company.

The Delivery

One of my friends from the chat group told me she went to their website while she listened to the rest of my video and started ordering. The look and set-up and the way they package their products are simply THAT appealing! So, anyway, I asked her for some feedback. Once she received her order, her first response was, “UPS just delivered my Salado olive oils and vinegar…they arrived in five days and were exceptionally packaged.”

“UPS just delivered my Salado olive oils and vinegar…they arrived in five days and were exceptionally packaged.”

Well first, the fact that the company is located in Central Texas, while she lives in Florida, and her order was delivered within five days is a huge thumbs up in my book! I feel that their “exceptional packaging” is also extremely important because not only are the products breakable, but these are the types of items you may want to have delivered to others as gifts as well.

The next question Is how do they taste?

In her opinion, the Walnut Strawberry Balsamic plus the Blood Orange Olive Oil make a delicious salad dressing. She also tried the Black Garlic Balsamic and said it was an excellent marinade for beef. She added that “it might be great for other things, but so far, she can only verify that it’s fantastic on steak.”

Another one of her purchases was the Hibiscus Balsamic Hot Sauce. Although she hasn’t tried it yet, she plans to the next time she makes hot wings. The last item on her list was the Salado House Blend, which she said is great for both general uses as well as in her medicinal blends for topical use, one of which she was kind enough to share.

General Uses

Topical Skincare Blend:
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 2 Tablespoons coconut oil
  • 2 teaspoons finely ground RICE powder (grind in herb grinder)
  • Contents of a bag of green tea (I can vouch for Lipton lemon/green tea but would imagine other blends/brands are fine as well.

Mix well

  • Place pot in a water bath and warm for 15 minutes (think double boiler)
  • Let cool
  • Strain through a tea strainer or whatever you happen to have
  • Place in a small jar and store in a dark place for 3 days
  • Apply oil with a cosmetic pad to wrinkles and rub in circular motions for 2 minutes prior to going to bed
  • In the morning wash with warm water.
  • Do this each night prior to bed-wrinkles, pigments and dark spots will disappear in a week
  • Oil can be stored for months

With this much of a positive review, the Salado Olive Oil Company is, in my opinion, a definite must for your shopping list! Click the link for the video review. The Random Review EP #1 (rumble.com)
